The great gall of China

They’ve got some nerve claiming to be the greatest nation on the planet.  Just because they have the only man made construction viewable from space, and just about the largest everything else, is no reason to go blowing their trumpet. Actually I never came across a Chinaman or woman who claimed that China is the greatest, but come here and see for yourself.  They just don’t do small.  Well they didn’t in the past.  With 2 billion mouths to feed that rhetoric has changed somewhat. Welcome to the world of moblogging!

It’s sad but true. I’ve been dreaming of this moment for over a year. The day when I can finally get rid of my laptop. Not that the old girl hasn’t served me well, but she put on some weight over the years and in my old age my back is suffering. After months of hairpulling I finally managed to post complete content to my website using my mobile phone. Place your bets please

Place your bets Guangzhou is the closest major city to Hong Kong and Makau, and whilst not a “mega city” i.e. 20m+ people, it’s size and 10.15m population gives the instant big city feel especially during commuting. I was lucky enough to befriend a Chinese guy and his buddies on the train from Kunming, who told me of the prospect of 50 yuan per night hotel room.  I’m certain this is rare since the Lonely Planet suggests 80 yuan upwards per night for it’s selected list of accomodation, no doubt       …..More Crumbs >>

China

The immensity and cultural values of China have already started to dawn on me and I’ve only been here a few days. Despite my intentions of avoiding staying int he border town of Hekou, I decided against the nightbus to Kunming, and found a room for $6. Fortunately there are a number of guest houses within walking distance of the bus station for a similar price, but they are pretty rundown and a little unclean.
