Honk if you love Vietnam

I highly suspected that Vietnam would remind me of Thailand, a country I have come to love. I’ve realised what a lover I am of street food, the countryside, generosity and honesty which is what I mostly experience in Thailand. I fully accept that I did not spend enough time in Cambodia to make a solid judgment so I reserve it for later, but I didn’t have the best time. Maybe it’s because I’m a Londoner, that I live in North Vietnam

Just keep your wits about you i kept thinking.   I wasn’t sure if I’d made the right decision to come with a tour. If I’m not with a tour I tend to be on guard, and refuse every offer I get of a ride or hotel until I’ve sussed out the place. But on a tour, I tend to relax and assume I can just follow the crowd. Hanoi

Hanoi is quite different to Ho Chi Minh. The busiest areas of interest are still walkable, and it affords a better bus network. But the traffic and noise if more intense, and with the former colonial French influence, the streets are smaller, sometimes cobbled, with a disinctly unorgansied but homely feel to them.
