Crumbs About Us

The Breadcrumb Trail is the story of my trailblazing journey around the globe using various modes of transport, recording real data on fuel consumption, and an alternative travel & transport resource.  Reaching London during 2010, I’ll show you how it’s done.

The idea came about from my own desire to find an alternative to flying as I was leaving the USA to head west.  Struggling to secure a place on a boat, my opportunity came when a flamboyant French captain who, on a chance stop at the island I was visiting, suggested I crew with him and off we sailed.  The rest is……….well still unfolding.

Ultimately it will become a massive one-stop-shop of information built around a “Green Calculator”, which will provide all possible travel & transport options on going from A to B, at the click of a button.  e.g. I want to go from Paris to Dubai.  The website would generate several routes using aeroplanes, car, ferry, bus, train etc, providing time, cost, fuel & logistical information e.g. visas, locally owned accommodation & low impact activities etc.  Maybe even a carbon footprint!

Then a person can make informed travel choices based on their preference for money, time, the environment and social wellbeing.

It will be geared towards & built by a network of globally conscious travellers with an interest in reducing human destruction of our environment & culture.

Input from current travellers is crucial to the accuracy & array of information available on the website.

Breadcrumb Trail Objectives

1) To create an interesting & realistic blog of my travel & adventures, including summaries of transport fuel consumption, price, & duration

2) To travel around the world recording & comparing fuel consumption for different modes of transport

3) To create an alternative travel & transport resource to encourage travel which is more Ecological, Spiritual and Economically (ESE) focused.

WebWriting

I can offer my services as a creative web writer  perhaps for travel websites (see Big Blogs).  I like to think of my work as displaying the skills of my professions as artist and engineer i.e. being analytical and accurate, but also creative and inspired.

WebDesign

I have spent thousands of hours designing this website (no joke) to provide the information for you to enjoy easily.  Virtually all the artwork is my own.

If you like the look and features of the site I encourage you to build your own or I can design one for you.

This site is built using ‘WordPress’ CMS (Content Management System) blogging software.  There are several CMS software available including Joomla & Drupal being the most popular.  The power of such a tool lies in the folowing:

1) It is “open source” – Meaning completely free to use.  Written for users by users

2) It is completely customisable, and each part of the website has it’s own file meaning you can make small changes without affecting the whole site.  CMS is just a way of organising those files.  HTML on the other hand uses a central file to control the whole site.

3) Previously a blog and website were seperate entities, but now we can combine the power of both

The Breadcrumb Trail includes  a location to store AND display videos, music, images, pdf, word, excel etc etc, Blog, Maps, Reader updates, Downloadable items etc

Here is my resume: C.V. James Tinker

Travel Reconnaissance

I cannot build such a huge database of information on my own.  Infact there are far better travellers out there than I, and I have the skills to manage the project.  Therefore I need reviews and data from existing or recently returned travellers.

On the home page you can download the multi language transport questionnaires to record fuel data & experiences.

Otherwise e-mail me any reviews / information on Ecological, Spiritual and Economically (ESE) focused travel.

Requests

This is a two way arrangement.  If you require any information or specifics feel free to ask me by e-mail.  I want to encourage this kind of travel
