Please note the following:
- Information is correct at the time of writing and based off a handful of actual journeys.
- As a general rule of thumb, information should be accurate for at least 6 months from publishing. To avoid disappointment, expect prices to be higher than stated. They can jump as much as 30% possibly due to the following: A) the quoted business refurbishes their establishment to a higher standard, B) the increase in tourism in an area generates more demand and pushes up prices fast, C) the information was incorrect to begin with
- All prices quoted US Dollars ($) unless otherwise stated.
- Totals are calculated per person, and allocated based on the primary purpose of the vehicle. See more details under Calculation Notes.
- Duration, costs etc are totally traveler dependent. It may be faster or slower, cheaper or more expensive than specified below.
- All tickets assumed an average of 2nd class, or whatever class comes after first.
- Take responsibility for your own health and safety since many of these options are not through recognised organisations
Calculation Notes
The allocation of fuel is based on the primary purpose of the vehicle as follows:
Cargo ship: Only the fuel used to transport, cook, & provide amenities attributable to passengers.
Passenger Aircraft: Total fuel consumed attributable to passengers, not including crew.
Shared car: Total fuel used by car attributable to passengers
Taxi: Total fuel consumed attributable to customers
Passenger Train: Total fuel consumed attributable to passengers, not including crew.
Passenger numbers are based on average passenger numbers based on driver / company knowledge, and referenced against real data collected.
Passenger weight assumed to be 120Kg incl. luggage
TRANSPORT COMPARISON REPORT (TOP)
I have spent the last three years collection data and documenting experiences onboard various types of transportation. Here I will compare both the technical and subjective points of each mode of transport.
Let me state clearly, the data I have collected is limited, and therefore the conclusions drawn need to be confirmed with more data. However, enough journeys on similar vehicles have provided some interesting results.
